China hosted the world’s first humanoid robot games in Beijing from 15 to 17 August 2025. A 3-day event organized by the Chinese government as part of the World Robot Conference 2025. The event was held at the National Speed Skating Oval, often known as Ice Ribbon.

280 teams from 16 countries displayed the cutting-edge technology of robotics with amusing skills, like free combat, Kung Fu, 109-yard hurdles, 400m race, soccer, table tennis, and much more.

Also, the robots not only exhibited sportsmanship but also flaunted cultural skills with music performances, martial arts, fashion shows, and dance performances. They also epitomized the word humanoid through their impressive real-life scenario-based events, like medical tasks (sorting pills), handling materials, maintaining logistics, and cleaning & concierge tasks.

Unitree Robotics H1 Humanoid Robot bagged 11 medals, including 4 golds. X Humanoid’s Tiangong Ultra secured a total of 10 medals, including 2 golds. With many other robots from various institutions and companies winning games. Participating in the humanoid games is not just about a prize or medal, but about accumulating attention from all over the world for the investment opportunities in the most rapidly growing arena, which is tech and AI. It’s China’s great push to dominate the world of AI and robotics. The event allowed researchers and developers to gather real-world performance data.

When asked how long it will take robots to be widespread in society, one of China’s leading CEO in the field said, “In the retail, manufacturing, and service industries, it will be quicker, but robots for ordinary people are going to take much longer.”

The Humanoid Robot Games was filled with several challenging yet fun moments where robots stripped, fell, or crashed mid-race. Toppling over in matches and struggling to balance, coordinate, and react reflexively to unfamiliar environments and situations.

Although the exact dates haven’t been announced, the 2026 humanoid robot games are confirmed as of now.
