Putin continued his assaults on Ukraine today as he turned to marine warfare with a savage Russian drone strike.
One Ukrainian sailor was killed with several wounded as Kyiv’s 180ft Simferopol ship was targeted.
The vessel was hit in the River Danube estuary just after midnight, causing the vessel – which normally has a crew of 29 – to capsize.
The Ukrainian navy confirmed the loss of the patrol and reconnaissance ship shortly after the blast.
Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmitry Pletenchuk said: “We confirm the fact of the strike on the ship, and we are currently dealing with the consequences of the attack.
“The vast majority of the crew is safe.
“Unfortunately, one crew member was killed and several were wounded.”
Russia reportedly launched the weapons from Crimea.
It is the first time in the gruelling conflict that Russia has destroyed a Ukrainian naval vessel with a marine drone.
Ukraine later exacted revenge as they attacked Vlad’s boats to stop them from attacking further.
Daring footage showed an aerial drone hunting down the Russian Buyan-M class Project 21631 missile corvette in the Sea of Azov.
The Buyan-M was hit by two UAVs belonging to the Prymary unit and the Active Operations Department of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
The operation – in Temryuk Bay near Kerch in occupied Crimea – left the Russian vessel’s radar “damaged”, according to Kyiv’s GUR military officials.
After being hit, the warship was “forced to leave the combat patrol area”, they added.
Ukrainian military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko continued: “Despite the fact that the ship did not receive fatal damage, it will not be able to perform combat missions for a long time.”
It is expected to now be out of action for some time as it undergoes expensive repairs.
The tit-for-tat blasts come after the West condemned Putin for a heinous attack on Kyiv.
Putin’s blitzed the capital in an attack which left at least 18 dead as he also blew apart the British Council building.
Footage showed the strike hitting the education and cultural organisation and causing massive damage to the civilian infrastructure.
A second missile can be seen crashing into the same building less than 20 seconds later.
At least 18 people were killed across Kyiv with the youngest victim being a two-year-old.
More than 30 people were injured, authorities said, adding that the numbers are expected to rise.
Brit PM Sir Keir Starmer branded the strikes a “sabotage of peace”, warning: “Putin is killing children and civilians. This bloodshed must end.”
French President Emmanuel Macron fumed: “Russia’s idea of peace is terror and barbarism.”
As German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the Kremlin had “showed its true face again last night”.
