A spokesperson for Israeli Police told the country’s media that “two terrorists have been neutralised” following the shock attack.

The horrifying attack happened at Ramot Junction in the north of the city, on a road that leads to settlements in east Jerusalem.

Paramedics have confirmed that at least five people were tragically killed in the shooting.

Four were declared dead by the ambulance service, while a fifth died in hospital in the aftermath.

At least five of those who were injured are believed to be in serious condition.

The gunmen stormed onto the bus armed with a makeshift submachine gun, the Times of Israel has reported.

First responders reportedly found victims lying on the road near the bus stop, some of whom were unconscious.

Footage from the time of the attack shows crowds of people fleeing the scene at the height of rush hour.

Security officials have claimed the shooters were West Bank Palestinians who had set out from villages in the Ramallah area.

Israeli authorities are still investigating their identities.

They were shot and killed by a solider and an armed civilian who were in the area at the time, Channel 12 has reported.

Cops have said that “a security officer and civilian who were present at the scene fired at the terrorists, and they were neutralised”.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is holding a “situation assessment” with security chiefs following the attack.

One woman who was on the bus at the time of the attack told Channel 12 the bus was “packed” when the gunmen entered.

“It was terrible. I was by the back door, I fell on everyone and escaped, I saved myself,” she said.

Opposition leader Yair Lapid has voiced his support for the Israeli security forces “in their efforts to thwart terrorism” following the attack.

In a post on X, he sent his “deep condolences to the families of the murdered and a speedy recovery to the wounded”.
