Mr Wade was reported missing after he left his home near Marbella on August 15.
At the time of his disappearance, close friends said they were “extremely worried something bad had happened to him”.
On Saturday, National Police found a body they believe to be his.
A spokesperson from the National Police said the body had been found during “an extensive search operation”.
“Throughout [the morning], an exhaustive investigation has been carried out, studying the steps that [Mr Wade] … might have taken until the day of his disappearance,” they said.
“The information gathered revealed that he was preparing to move back to his country of origin.
“Finally, once his last movements had been narrowed down, investigators from the National Police, assisted by other local agencies, carried out an extensive search of the area,” the statement continued.
The spokesperson said officers had previously explored the terrain using drones.
“As it is a wooded area, with dense undergrowth, the results were not positive,” they said.
“Today, investigators finally located a body in the area known as Paraiso.
“Confirmation of the identity and cause of death is pending.”
Despite the vague information from the National Police, a source says the body is assumed to be Mr Wade’s.
When Mr Wade was first reported missing, his friends said he left behind his two cats, which was “very unlike him”.
He has been described as a “lovely” man by an acquaintance.
SOS Desaparecidos – a Spanish charity for missing persons – has urged anyone with information to come forward.
It is believed Mr Wade had been driving a black Volkswagen Golf at the time of his disappearance.

Mr Wade’s disappearance comes after tragedy struck in Greece for another British holidaymaker.
Michele Bourda, 59, was on holiday with her husband when she mysteriously disappeared from a sunbed.
She had been lounging next to her sleeping husband on August 1 when she vanished.
A month later, a passing yacht saw her body floating off the coast of Fidonisi Island – just 40km from where she disappeared.
Medical experts ruled her death as not suspicious, saying she almost certainly died “as a result of drowning”.
Forensic scientist Nikos Kifnidis told The Sun: “There were no other injuries… I have concluded her death was a result of drowning in the water.”
He added: “The swimsuit she was wearing, bought in the UK, was central to her being identified.”
