WEARING little more than a tiny crop top, hot pants and an engaging smile, bar girl Malee spends her evenings trying to catch the eye of passing men.
Many are Brits on holiday in Thailand’s ‘Sin City’ and for those who do stop to chat, the name of her bar – Hookup Corner – makes it clear there is a lot more on offer than just conversation.

The 33-year-old mum-of-one is one of the thousands of bar girls who work in Pattaya, the world’s number one sex tourist destination.
Police and politicians have been trying to clean-up the city for years to make it a more family-friendly resort.
But a short stroll through its red light district – dubbed the biggest brothel in the world – shows that they have failed miserably.
There are hundreds of gogo bars, massage parlours, brothels, Lady boy bars and sex clubs.
With so-called “b***job bars”, and customers able to buy sex for as little as £12, the city has been dubbed the “porn version of Disneyland” by a Brit teacher who lived and worked in Pattaya.
Prostitutes are available to hire for a “short time” – a couple of hours -with the punter paying the bar a “fine” of around a tenner to take the girl to his hotel, where he then negotiates another price for her time.
They are also available “long time” which means they spend the entire night with the client, a couple of days or even his entire holiday, never leaving his side as his ‘girlfriend’.
Some even become a long-term sugar daddy “boyfriend”, sending money on a monthly basis.
Malee, not her real name, has had a couple of such relationships including a truck driver Brit who sent her around £100 every month and fell head over heels in love with her.
He proposed, they set a date for their wedding and he even met her family in the poor north east of the country, where she is from.
She said: “We talked every day. He liked me and wanted to have a serious relationship with me and if it all worked out he planned to move to Thailand.
“He sent me THB 5,000 (£114) every month. In April I told him I want to have a motorbike so he sent me THB 40,000 (£915) for one.
“When he visited here, during my work hours, he came and sat at the bar to be close with me.
“After work hours, I took him out for a date. I told him that if he wanted to be serious, he should come back again in June because it was low season and I would stop working at the bar and go back to my family home.
“He did come back in June so I took him home with me to meet my family.
“He proposed to me after a few days. I said yes and we set January 17 next year as our wedding date because it’s my birthday. We planned to hold the wedding in my home town.
“He said he would move to Thailand because the cost of living here is much lower than in UK.
“Thai people are friendly and we live in big families. He loves Thai food because it’s tasteful and has lots of variety and it is very cheap.
“In England the cost of living is high and there are not many options of food and the taste is not very good.
“He lives alone in England and has to cook for himself. When he comes here he visits my family and does not have to cook for himself.”

Sadly, their love story did not have a happy ending – the challenges of a long-distance relationship coupled with the language and cultural barriers led to Malee calling off their engagement.
She added: “He often made a big deal about sending me money which I didn’t like.
“I am a hot-tempered person and he is hot-tempered as well and he is quite a serious man so I felt we did not get along.
“When he returned to England, I decided to break up with him.
“He asked for another chance, but I refused.”
Malee is never short of potential suitors – before the Brit she had an American boyfriend who sent her $150 each month and she has also dated other foreigners.
But the relationships never last, mostly due to the language barrier, and she has now abandoned the idea of landing a foreign boyfriend or husband.
Instead, her motive for working as a bar girl is now purely financial – she hopes to earn enough to open her own business one day.
To help her achieve that aim there is plenty of “short time” custom to be had at Hookup Corner, which boasts online: “Our girls look absolutely unreal. You’ll find yourself staring. They don’t mind.”
Malee spoke to The Sun during one of her shifts to explain what life is like as a bar girl, charging clients up to £70 for a “date” with her.

She said: “I was born in the north east of Thailand and I used to work in a garment factory in Bangkok for 14 years.
“I broke up with my boyfriend four years ago, so I decided to quit and changed my job to a cleaning maid.
“After that, I was looking for a foreign boyfriend because I felt it’s better than a Thai.
“Some of my friends told me I could find one working in a bar and could also make good money so I did research on a number of different ones.
“Once I made a decision I applied for a job and got a call from three bars but I chose this one as it’s attentive and provides good protection regulations for the girls.”
Those rules include only ever having protected sex, which some clients try and dodge.
Malee went on: “Mostly my clients are British. They are polite and caring and take good care of me and my colleagues.
“But I did have one who showed me his blood test result on his mobile and then asked to not use a condom.
“I said no, in compliance with the bar rules.
“My fee is negotiable. Before I go out with the client, I always inform him of the rules and etiquette, what is allowed and what is not allowed.
“So far, I have never encountered a customer with a problem. If there is a problem, I would tell him that I have a security team and the bar owner looking after me and they can track our location.
“If there is a problem, they will arrive within minutes.
“Some clients ask me to go beyond the rules with an extra payment but when I insisted on not doing it and were ready to call the security, they did not violate it.
“Normally I earn from THB 1,000-2,000 (£23-£46) daily from drinks bought by the clients but some nights I am lucky and earn as much as THB 7,000 (£160).
“There are some wealthy clients who offer me financial support but I turned them down because now I realise that I want to stand on my own feet.
“I plan to work at the bar to save money for three to four years and then I will return home to run a small resort there.
“I already bought the land plot, now I have to obtain money for the buildings.
“I have a 17-year-old daughter, she is now living in Bangkok with her friend and working.
“She said she would return home if I have a business there so she could help me run it and we would live all together as a family.”
