Matthew Pugh, 36, Oliver’s father and Anastasiia’s estranged husband, has been worried sick about his child’s disappearance.

Earlier in the month, Matthew offered up a cash reward of £87,000 (€100,000) for information and the safe return of Oliver.

Investigators could be one step closer to finding the missing boy as social media posts hint he might still be in Europe.

In photos on Instagram, Anastasiia previously posed in front of a Cartier store, believed to be in Bangkok.

Other photos suggested she may even have been in South Korea.

However, new posts reveal she might not be so far away, with her location tagged in Moscow, Russia.

While this doesn’t necessarily guarantee she is in the Russian capital, it does suggest she wants to give that impression.

Oliver and Anastasiia went missing from the Spanish coastal town of Marbella, where Oliver’s custody was shared between his parents after their split.

When he was reported missing, Spanish police undertook a major hunt for the boy, before liaising with Interpol to search beyond Spanish borders.

Matthew, alongside the Spanish police, feared Anastasiia may have taken Oliver to Russia because she was at risk of losing custody of him.

Spanish police are investigating Anastasiia for suspicion of abduction and have been working with Interpol to find her.

If the missing pair are in Russia, extradition would be impossible.

Russian extradition to the West

RUSSIAN extradition laws prohibit the extradition of Russian citizens, as mandated by Article 61 of the Constitution.

This creates significant barriers for Western countries seeking extradition.

Extradition is only possible through international agreements or federal laws, but Russia does not extradite individuals for political crimes or non-criminal acts under its law.

Treaties like the European Convention on Extradition are limited by constitutional restrictions.

Russia and Western countries often lack extradition treaties, such as with the US and the UK.

Concerns over human rights and fair trials further complicate extradition efforts.

Western nations frequently reject Russian extradition requests, citing political motives and poor detention conditions.

This has led to strained relations and reduced cooperation in legal matters.

Extradition remains largely one-sided, with Russia rarely extraditing individuals to the West.

Meanwhile, Western countries are increasingly resistant to extraditing individuals to Russia.

While Oliver has a British passport, he is also eligible for a Russian passport; however, it is unknown whether or not he has one.

In her most recent posts, the runaway mother did not explain her location or share any details of her son’s well-being or safety.

In a cryptic online message, Anastasiia said: “No one plays a role better than the one who causes harm themselves”.

“Once again – the victim and the aggressor always exist within the same person,” she went on in Russian.

A self-described online coach who offers “transformational training” courses for women, Anastasiia runs the business with her mother.

Covering topics including “female tricks that can’t be ignored” and “how to manipulate a man”, she gave a rambling update of her current situation to her followers.

“The story is based on real events,” she said.

“To be continued, fasten your seat-belts.

“This story will be about honour, honesty with oneself and protecting children – if not a mother then who?”

Anastasiia said: “The photo of my child is already circulating in newspapers, but I am the one forbidden to post it”.

“Where is the logic in that?”

The Russian mother answered surprised followers, who didn’t understand why she had run away from what she portrayed as a good life.

“Many ask ‘Asya, how come? You always spoke so beautifully about your life, and now it turns out it wasn’t chocolatey at all? Did you really fool us?’ She said, imitating her comments section.

“I didn’t complain,” she said.

“My life strategy is to notice beauty, to see the wonder in people, to pity myself less – whining is for the weak.

“So through my eyes you will always see a chocolatey life, because angle and perspective in this life are what matters, and everything else is just the fantasies of the envious,” she continued.

“The truth – the good things I told you about, they were real too.”

Anastasiia – also known as Asya – said her problems began during pregnancy, when Matthew was very unwell as a result of Covid.

“In 2021, suddenly the alarm went off across the intensive care unit – my husband’s blood pressure spiked to a deadly level,” she said.

“The doctors anxiously pulled me aside and said: ‘Go home, think of the baby, don’t build up any hopes here.’”

Despite this grim warning, her then husband soon left the hospital and Oliver was born – leaving Anastasiia to care for both of them.

“At home there are two newborns in the literal and figurative sense,” she said.

“Neither can walk, talk, chew solid food, or hold utensils.

“And me alone – almighty, capable of everything, never tired, working and believing that now balance in my life has been restored, and from here on everything will only get better and better,” she continued.

“I still remember how with one hand I was hanging Christmas toys, and with the other, I was rocking Oliver in my arms, and I thought: ‘Life is beautiful, no matter what’, even though I was severely sleep deprived.

“He slept restlessly, waking up every two hours,” she said.

Hinting at internal conflict, Anastasiia said “no mother-in-law could spoil my festive mood and holiday”.

“Creating celebration is a skill: either you take the right to rejoice in life and bring your bold ideas to life, or you waste it,” she said.

She promised further details of “what happened next“, but told her fans she “was not a Netflix series where you can press next episode”.

“My life is being written at the same time as yours and the only motivation that made me wake up to this world was my child,” she said.

“But life often keeps cards up its sleeve that you don’t expect. To be continued…

“Your support will help shed light on the situation,” she finished.

Anastasiia is believed to be from St Petersburg, where she studied financial technology at the St Petersburg State University of Economics.

Her father is also believed to live in the city.

Police say she also has relatives in Saratov, where her mother is from.

Oliver – who remains unseen – has been described as being two feet and seven inches tall, with blond hair and distinctive grey eyes.

Matthew, Oliver’s dad, desperate to have his son home, told The Sun: “We have no idea where they are – Oliver could be anywhere”.

“Anastasiia appears to have run off with [him] when she realised she was going to lose custody,” he said.

“Rather than face that outcome, she appears to have fled — even taking her teenage sister out of school.”

The IT worker from Bedford sent out an emotional plea to his estranged wife, saying: “Oliver needs and deserves to have both of his parents in his life”.

“By taking him away from his father, his friends, and everything familiar, the only one truly being hurt is Oliver.”

“Please, stop before it gets any harder for everyone,” he finished.

Anastasiia and Oliver remain missing and assumed on the run.

Anastasiia’s mother Angela (Anzhela) Nikolenko and Anastasiia’s 15-year-old sister also vanished.

A spokesperson for Spain‘s national police said: “The investigation is ongoing. There are no updates we can give you”.

“We are treating this as a parental abduction.

“We believe the mother has left Spain and has taken the boy to her homeland which is Russia.”
