A MAN was allegedly ambushed and hacked to death with a chainsaw in a bloody midnight attack in Australia.

Gordon Kessey, 44, was found dead in a park in Bega, New South Wales, after what police believe was a violent confrontation linked to drugs.

The alleged attack is said to have taken place in a park in the early hours of Monday

A second man remains in hospital fighting for his life in hospital.

Locals reported waking to the sound of yelling, screaming — and the chilling rev of a chainsaw — around 2am on Monday.

One resident told local media: “My mate gave me a call and said someone was being attacked by a chainsaw down the road.”

Mr Kessey’s long-term partner Amanda Manton said she was nearby when police were called to the scene.

She described the moment a stranger approached her with a gut-wrenching message.

“Hey sis, they’ve got your man down there with the chainsaw,” a woman told her as chaos unfolded nearby.

Ms Manton rushed to the park, believing Gordon might have been injured but alive.

She told The Daily Telegraph: “I walked up (to the scene) because there was cops everywhere, assuming that he (Gordon) had gone to hospital or something … and one of the officers said: ‘He’s deceased, he’s been found deceased in the park’.

“I said, ‘no, what do you mean, he can’t be?’ I just lost my s***,” she recalled.

Hours later, Ms Manton posted a heartbreaking tribute online, writing: “I loved you with all my heart. Eleven years of us together.”

She also issued a fierce warning to those she believes are responsible.

“Don’t worry, your death won’t be forgotten about and I know that who ever loved you like I did will make sure them dogs won’t be breathing soon,” she wrote.

“They’re f***** when they go (to) jail … Get killed, dogs.”

Police revealed the chilling detail that a chainsaw was used to threaten during the fight, but could not confirm at this stage if it definitely caused Mr Kessey’s fatal injuries.

South Coast Police District Chief Inspector Shane Jessep told reporters: “I can confirm there was a chainsaw produced during that incident.

“At this stage, that chainsaw doesn’t appear to be responsible for any injuries sustained.”

Investigators believe Mr Kessey died from stab wounds after what’s being described as a violent drug-related brawl.

Mr Kessey was well known to police and had a troubled past with drug addiction and stints behind bars.

But Ms Manton said he had worked hard to turn his life around after the pair met.

A major investigation has been launched by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.

Detectives have established a crime scene at the park and are combing for CCTV, dashcam and witness accounts.

Police were first called just after 2am on reports of a “concern for welfare” before finding Mr Kessey’s body in what they describe as a “horrific” scene.

A NSW Police spokesperson said on Tuesday morning the case remains “very active” and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information, video or dashcam from the area is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
