On Wednesday, 07th of January 2026, just a week after the New Year celebration, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot Renee Nicole Good, an innocent citizen of America, in the head. It happened while she was returning after dropping her 6-year-old son off at his school.
Who is the Officer behind Renee Nicole Good’s Death?
After the U.S. immigration policy strictness under Trump’s second term presidency, a mass number of active-duty troops are searching for immigrants all over the places in U.S., which is when the incident took place.
The brutal killing of Renee became an international news highlight, and everyone is looking for the ICE agent who fired the gun. Federal officials have not officially announced the officer’s name. However, according to the court’s statement, Jonathan Ross, an experienced officer, was behind this killing. Some of the media platforms, including The New York Times, mentioned Jonathan as the officer who had fired on Good.
Ross is an expert and well-trained officer. He was a part of the federal agents who were leading the operation in Minneapolis. The incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. ET near 34th Street and Port, land Avenue, a few streets away from Good’s home.
What Happened to Renee Nicole in Minneapolis?
According to the video, around 3 ICE agents surrounded her car and asked her to completely lower the window glass and come out. In another second, you will see an agent in a black uniform shoot the gun. One of the three officers opened fire with 3 bullets on the windshield, pointing towards the driver’s seat. One bullet struck Renee’s head, and it led her to be unconscious and crash her car into the light pole.
After this, Good was rushed to Minneapolis hospital, where she was declared dead. Federal authorities and DHS (Department of Homeland Security) said that the shooting was justified, as Good was trying to escape from the officers. They labeled her action as domestic terrorism and stated the shot as self-defense. When asked by Trump about the incident, he responded ‘She behaved horribly.’ After watching the full video clip of the shoot-out, his reaction was ‘It’s a terrible scene. I think it’s horrible to watch. No, I hate to see it.’
The video available online shows Renee reversing her car to take a turn when an officer standing in front of the car pulled his gun and shot it, pointed toward the driver’s seat. Many experts said that the firing into a moving vehicle in this case looks contradictory to the standard use-of-force practice.
The general public and local officials have criticized this action by federal officers. Mayor and Governor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey and Tim Walz, respectively, condemned the shooting and called it a lack of accountability.
Response of Nicole’s Family and Neighbours

The neighbours and family members said all good things about Good. Renee’s current spouse, Rebecca Good, was captured in a video claiming that this was all her mistake. A video showed her kneeling in the snow, crying and saying, ‘It’s my fault. I made her come down here.’
