President Donald Trump marked the one-year anniversary of his second inauguration with a marathon press briefing at the White House on January 20, 2026. This meandering speech combines boosting of achievements, personal anecdotes, and offbeat tangents, from mugshots to binder clips, and his admiration for biker’s club Hells Angels for voting for him.
The President kicked off with an 81-minute-long opening speech endorsing his ‘iconic’ “365 Days 365 Wins,” flashing a thick binder full of his victories from ending wars in Congo, Rwanda, between India and Pakistan, to what not. He also joked about the heftiness of the binder, saying, “I wouldn’t have shown the pain,” and it was probably meant to hurt him. He also displayed mugshots of several Minnesota residents, who are in the country illegally and are charged of commiting serious crimes, before tossing the pictures dramatically beside the podium.
Trump then moved on to humiliating Somali immigrants, blatantly calling them “very low IQ people” and repeating his belief that Somalia is not even a country. He later quipped about slashing the number of immigrants entering the USA and improving consumers’ showerhead and toilet choices.

The next few minutes were spent claiming that the presence of the National Guard beautifies American cities. “To me, a town looks better when you have military personnel,” Trump asserted. He insisted, without any evidence (as most of the time!), D.C. crime rates dropped since troops arrived last summer. “Your loved one’s not going to be harmed” while walking there. Threats loomed for Minnesota active-duty troops despite pushback.
Trump also praised biker’s club Hells Angels, saying, “They voted for me.” He then slammed Joe Biden and reiterated 2020 election theft claims. A Little League story and Congress address length comparison added another dose of whimsy.
Near the end, he declared, “God is proud of (the) job I done.” There were suggestions for renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of Trump” and the Nile in Egypt, among other unscripted remarks, which have become his signature style, apparently.
The briefing highlighted grievances shaping policies, per observers. Protests decried outside. Trump defended urban agents removing “thousands of murderers.” Clocking in at 1 hour 45 minutes, the speech strayed wildly before his Davos trip. An anniversary spectacle that underscored the ‘Supreme Leader’s’ flair for spectacle over structure, captivating allies while frustrating the critics.
