“Life Of A Toretto”: Vin Diesel Teases Fast & Furious 11’s Driving Stunts With BTS Drifting Video

Fast X: Part 2 gets a new tease from Vin Diesel, who shares a video showing off the sequel’s practical driving stunts. Coming more than 20 years after the franchise’s debut entry, Fast X hit theaters last year, continuing the story of Diesel’s Dom Toretto and his family, this time as they face off Dante (Jason Momoa), a new villain. Diesel revealed several weeks ago that Fast X: Part 2 filming is now seemingly underway with returning director Louis Leterrier, with a release eyed for 2026.

As work on Fast X: Part 2 continues, Diesel now takes to Instagram to share a new look at the sequel. The post features a video of a muscle car being drifted around a pylon on the Irwindale Speedway track as a small camera crew captures the action. The second image in the carousel features Diesel behind the wheel, with small cameras mounted to the front of the vehicle. Check out Diesel’s post below:

The Actor Has Been Teasing A Big Focus On Practical Fast & Furious Action

Since the release of the debut installment in 2001, the Fast & Furious movies have become steadily more outlandish and ridiculous when it comes to their action sequences. F9: The Fast Saga (2001) was arguably the pinnacle of this ridiculousness, and Fast X was said to take the franchise back to its roots. That ended up being only partially true, as the Fast X ending, for example, featured Diesel driving down the side of a dam as it exploded behind him, but Diesel’s latest post suggests the next installment won’t be forgetting about getting back to more grounded action scenes.

Last month, Diesel shared a video of a muscle car skidding to a stop, and he wrote in his caption: “Oh the joy of seeing practical shots back on the streets.” This post is accompanied by several others, including one in which Diesel highlights the “practical exteriors” they were filming and another in which he says “I just want to get back to real street racing, practical stunts.” After Fast X reviews were mixed, Diesel’s coverage of Part 2 thus far on social media suggests that audiences are in for a more grounded sequel.

It’s Time To Return To The Franchise’s Roots

There’s a certain amount of fun to be had with the ridiculous antics of the more recent Fast & Furious movies, but it has arguably reached a point of diminishing returns. Characters go to space in a Pontiac Fiero in F9, and some of the car stunts in that movie are so silly that it just strips the films of any real stakes or sense of tension.

Diesel’s recent social media posts are reassuring, then, as Fast X: Part 2 could prioritize real driving over CGI stunts that come and go with little impact. It remains to be seen if the upcoming film will truly be returning to practical action or if this is part of a larger marketing push, but early signs are certainly promising.
