Lewis Hamilton: Angela Cullen returning to seven-time F1 world champion’s team ahead of Ferrari debut

Lewis Hamilton has restored his former performance coach Angela Cullen to his support team ahead of his debut season with Ferrari.

Cullen left her role with Hamilton in March 2023 after seven years working with the seven-time Formula 1 world champion.

Hamilton is preparing to begin his first campaign with Ferrari after stunning the sport by deciding to end a 12-year stint with Mercedes to join the Italian team.

After joining Hamilton in 2016, Cullen was alongside the Brit for his four successive world championships from 2017-2020.

The New Zealander became a key member of Hamilton’s team and was a near-constant presence with him around the paddock.

Neither Hamilton nor Cullen have officially confirmed that they’ve reunited, but sources have confirmed to Sky Sports News that she has joined his Project 44 company.

Cullen will attend races with physiotherapy among her duties, as she works as part of a performance team led by Hamilton’s manager Marc Hynes

Since parting ways with Hamilton in 2023, Cullen had worked with fellow Kiwi Marcus Armstrong in IndyCar.

Confirming their split in 2023, Hamilton wrote on social media: “I am a stronger athlete and a better person because of her.”

The news comes after Hamilton made his first appearance at Ferrari’s Maranello factory on Monday, with the 40-year-old expected to drive one of the team’s F1 cars for the first time later this week.

Hamilton ended a 56-race winless streak by triumphing at the British Grand Prix in July, before adding a record-extending 105th race victory in Belgium later that month.
