The fire broke out at around 12:25pm local time, according to a state media report.

Shocking footage from the scene shows clouds of black smoke coming from the windows and doors of the building as the fire blazes.

Terrified passers-by can be seen fleeing from the scene, while others watch on in horror.

The emergency services can later be seen arriving to put out the fire, as they assemble their equipment to deal with the flames.

At least 22 people were killed and a further three have been left injured.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown but an investigation is reportedly underway.

China‘s President Xi Jinping has called for every effort to be made to ensure that the injured are treated in hospitals in a timely manner.

This comes after a massive fire caused by a short circuit broke out at a high-rise hotel in China last August.

The hotel’s rooftop billboard reportedly caught fire, sending sparks and flaming debris dripping down to the ground.

Fire trucks rushed to the scene to control the blaze as it engulfed the entire building.

Local cops confirmed that the fire was later contained and extinguished later that night.

Investigations revealed that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the hotel sign.

No casualties were reported as the blaze was brought under control.
