A member of staff said that a bomb threat was triggered on the aircraft that forced it to land at Charleroi Airport.

It is understood that the plane was flying from Porto, Portugal.

A spokeswoman said: “A security perimeter was established around the aircraft, requiring the closure of the runway and the suspension of operations.

“The relevant authorities have taken over.”

Ryanair told The Sun: “Ryanair was informed of a security threat on flight FR6313 from Faro to Brussels Charleroi today, 13th May.

“The aircraft landed normally at Charleroi as planned. Passengers have been disembarked, and the aircraft is being prepared for return to service. We sincerely apologise to any passengers affected.”

Last year, a Ryanair flight was abandoned after an explosion left the wing of a plane on fire.

All 184 passengers onboard were forced to evacuate the aircraft as it sat smoking on a runway in Italy.

Another Ryanair flight was met with chaos after the tyres of a plane appeared to explode during landing.

Passengers were left stuck on the runway following the burst tyres in Italy.

Another Boeing plane has experienced serious issues midair recently, as a pilot was forced to emergency land after passengers started bleeding from their ears and mouths.

The Delta Air Lines Flight 1203 spun into chaos when the Boeing 737-900 aircraft dramatically dipped, according to passengers.

A packed plane also suffered a nightmare take-off in July when its tail scraped along the runway.

The Latam 777-300 was left with significant damage after the back end failed to rise at Milan airport – leaving a thick cloud of smoke and falling debris behind it.
