Spotify has introduced a new feature called Mix that changes how playlists play. Instead of songs ending abruptly or starting suddenly, they now flow smoothly into each other for a better listening experience, which will feel like a DJ playing the song. This feature is currently in beta and available to some Premium users in the U.S. and some parts of Europe.
Spotify hasn’t announced yet when it will be available in other countries. Spotify Mix could soon change how millions enjoy their music. Here’s a closer look at the features and how it can enhance your music-listening experience.
What Does Spotify Mix Do?
Mix, just simply merges songs one after another for a smooth and natural transition between the songs. In this feature, there are two types of modes available.
In the first one, Spotify itself makes a mix of the playlist made by you, and
In the Second mode, it gives control for adjusting the volume, customizing the sound effect, and changing the equalizer settings manually.
There are also preset styles like “Fade” or “Rise” to make transitions quick and easy. You can see waveforms and beat guides to pick the perfect time for each transition.
The advanced feature is that you can share access to your friend who has the Spotify premium plan and edit the playlist together, which can make it more exciting.
How Does it Compare with Others?
Apple Music uses crossfade and AI-powered AutoMix to blend songs automatically. YouTube Music has Smart Transitions that adjust tempo and key for smoother changes.
Spotify is different because it lets you choose. You can either let it mix songs automatically or adjust each transition manually.
How to Use Spotify Mix?
Step 1: Open your Spotify playlist
Step 2: Tap on “Mix”
Step 3: Choose “Auto” for automatic mixing or manually for customised mixing
Step 4: Customize your music
Step 4: Save when you are ready.
You can share your playlist with your friends with a Premium subscription, and they can help you edit. To listen without mixing, just switch off the Mix button.
