THE families of two British women run over while holidaying in Ibiza say they’ve been told they are likely to be in hospital “for weeks”.

Mum-of-three Ebony Cordingley, 26, and her mum-of-two friend Lauren Holmes, 27, were rushed to separate hospitals following the incident.

Ebony’s sister Shannon, who stayed in the UK to help look after her young children, said their dad Richard Coombes was flying to Ibiza.

They were told surgery on the stricken tourist’s open knee fracture had to be delayed because of a “high risk” of infection.

The pair, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, were hit by a Toyota Corolla just before 2am on Tuesday morning.

Cops have not said whether they arrested the young Spanish driver.

Ebony’s mum Diana Gray, in a message to loved ones this morning updating them on the latest situation, said: “She’s taken the impact on the left side by the look of it.

“She’s got six broken ribs on the left side and multiple fractures in both legs.

“She had an open fracture on her left knee where she’s got the staples which requires further surgery but they won’t do the surgery yet because she’s at high risk of infection.

“It’s looking like she’s going to be here for weeks and that’s all we know at the moment.

“They’re doing an MRI scan now to check on the brain bleed she’s got. It’s what they do every day.”

A GoFundMe appeal set up for Ebony has already raised nearly £6,000 of its £6,500 target.

One for Laura, whose family say they the bill to bring her home would be around £32,000, has raised more than £5,500 of its £8,000 target.

Ebony said: “On what should have been a happy holiday in Ibiza, our beloved sister Ebony was struck by a speeding taxi in the early hours of Tuesday 26th August, and is now in a critical condition in the intensive care unit.

“This sudden and devastating accident has turned our world upside down and our family is facing the most frightening time of our lives.

“Right now, doctors are doing everything they can, but the reality is that her recovery will be long, uncertain, and incredibly difficult.

“We simply do not know yet how serious or lasting her injuries will be.

“What we do know is that she will need time, care, and strength to heal — and her three young sons need their mum more than ever.”

Lauren’s mum Bernice Ramsden, 47, has also flown to Ibiza to be with her daughter.

She is at the island’s main state hospital Can Misses, whereas Ebony is in another called the Nuestra Senora del Rosario Polyclinic.

Shannon said on Wednesday she believed the pair were crossing the road when they were hit.

She said: “They weren’t drinking, weren’t leaving any clubs, they played in a park on swings, went for a walk, went for food then walked back to their hotel not realising the dangers of the roads around there.”

The Civil Guard said earlier this week: “Two British women were taken to hospital in a serious condition.

“They were pedestrians who were run over by a 24-year Spaniard at the wheel of a Toyota Corolla.

“One is 26 and the other is 27.

“The incident happened at 1.50am on the El-600 road between Ibiza and San Antonio in the municipality of San Antonio.”
