A deal has been struck for a four-day ceasefire in which 50 hostages will be freed — the first 12 due some time tomorrow.

But Ayelet, 46, says Hamas plans to “drip feed” the names of those being released just revealing the lucky 12 or 13 each day.

She said: “They are doing exactly what I expected of them — torturing us in any way they can by holding back information — and waiting for news is unbearable.”

Mum-of-three Ayelet, whose family are from Yorkshire, added: “It is agony which never stops — and I won’t believe they are safe until I hear confirmation they are definitely out of Gaza.”

Hamas has agreed to free 30 children, eight mothers and 12 elderly women and to let Red Cross teams examine the remaining captives.

In return Israel will hand over 150 Palestinian prisoners and allow in trucks, medical aid and fuel.

Israel said the four-day period could be extended for 24 hours for each additional ten hostages freed — but Hamas has yet to respond to that offer.
