UK holidaymaker Josh Rogers vanished from his hotel in the holiday hotspot, but cops haven’t yet confirmed the body’s identitySolarpix
According to local reports, investigators suspect the body could be UK holidaymaker Josh Rogers, who vanished from his hotel in the town.
His loved ones have been launching social media appeals for information on his whereabouts.
Well-placed sources said today it was “highly likely” the body was that of the Brit.
Tests are now underway to confirm his identity.
A relative of Josh’s posted a desperate appeal in a local English language Facebook group yesterday, saying: “Can everyone please share.
“This is Josh Rogers, he’s gone on holiday to Lloret de Mar in Spain and hasn’t been seen or heard from in three days.
“His phone is off and all his belongings are still in his hotel room but he hasn’t been back there for three days.”
The grim discovery was made around 7pm yesterday by a walker in woods near a residential estate just outside the resort’s centre.
Emergency crews, including firefighters and medics, raced to the scene.
Police sources said there were no obvious signs of violence on the body, but the cause of death remains unclear.
Police in the UK are understood to have been made aware of the discovery, and informed Josh’s loved ones, in case it is confirmed the body found is his.
Josh, from Bloxwich near Walsall in the West Midlands, had been posting online about his holiday to Lloret.
He published a photo of a glass of Strongbow cider while he was at JD Wetherspoons at Birmingham Airport on Friday, the day he left the UK for Spain.
He wrote: “Get me on that plane.”
The Brit added in a second post alongside plane and beer emojis: “Get me away.”
Josh appeared excited for the start of his holiday, saying in another post he had started to pack more than a week before he was due to leave.
He wrote at the time: “There’s my toiletries packed and a couple of bits.
“Roll on next Friday. Get me on that plane.”
Days later he posted an RIP tribute to boxer Ricky Hatton who was found dead at his Hyde home on September 14.
It comes after the body of another Brit, Andrew Wade, 65, was found on the Costa del Sol on Saturday following a month-long search.
And just hours earlier, missing pensioner Clifford Wildgoose, 76, was recognised by a tourist in Marbella after appeals went viral — and has since returned to the UK.
