He was seen walking into an office space, where his ex-wife Eser Karaca worked as a medical secretary, and begins trying to grab her.

The 42-year-old mother of two fled the room alongside a colleague, trying to get away from Ayintapli.

He chased the women, reaching into the bag while he ran, while terrified bystanders escape in the opposite direction.

In another frame of the CCTV, Ayintapli cornered Eser in a public stairwell and in her heart breaking final moments, she raised her hands to protect herself.

Ayintapli then lifted the large shotgun and shot her in the upper body.

He watched her fall to the ground, before firing two further shots and fled on foot.

Hospital staff were seen discovering Eser’s body, with one man immediately putting his head into his hands and turning away.

Ayintapli ran out of the hospital and discarded the deadly weapon on the ground in the entrance.

Following scenes show more people fleeing for their lives after the gunshots.

Eser had gone to the police to file a fourth restraining order on the morning of her death.

Femicide has become a growing issue in Turkey, as women fight back against the increasing domestic violence.

Prominent teen female rights activist Gizem Canbulut was just 17 years old when she was murdered by her boyfriend.

She was stabbed to death by Eren Yildiz, 19, in the park where they met.

Turkish media reported the man had murdered her just after the couple had broken up.

Yildiz later told police he “didn’t remember the stabbing”.

“The last thing I saw was Gizem on the ground, covered in blood,” he said in a statement.

“I was very scared, I threw the knife away and ran away from the scene.”

Gizem’s death was one of many, causing women’s rights activists to call on the government to take a stand against the widespread domestic violence problem in the country.

According to NGOs in Turkey, 394 women were killed by men in 2024 – more than one per day.
