Marvel’s Loki season 2 finished on November 9, having once more putting the fate of the MCU’s timeline in the hands of Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief. Following the infamous MCU anti-hero as he deals with time slipping through Marvel universe history and the looming specter of the death of the multiverse, Loki season 2 also introduces a new Kang variant, played once more by Jonathan Majors.
Loki season 2 – Marvel’s first season 2 of the entire Disney+ Marvel TV show list – was first confirmed by Loki season 1’s ending, and follows on from the release of Secret Invasion. Loki season 1 writer Eric Martin wrote all six episodes of season 2, while filmmaking duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead having directed the series after their contribution to Moon Knight. With many familiar faces returning to the cast along with some new additions, the season cements the TVA’s importance in the MCU. Here’s every major character in Loki season 2, including new Marvel characters and every returning character from Loki season 1.
Loki Season 2’s New Marvel Characters
Ke Huy Quan as OB
Ke Huy Quan plays OB, a TVA agent who works in the Repairs & Advancements department. He is, essentially, the TVA’s tech support, who is actively called upon to fix things – including Loki’s time-slipping, which OB reveals is “impossible” by the logic of the timeline. Best known for his child acting and Academy Award-winning performance in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, it was confirmed at the 2022 D23 Expo that Ke Huy Quan joined the Loki season 2 cast. With Quan’s talent in stunt choreography and the praise the character has received, the potential for OB to appear later in the MCU is huge.
Jonathan Majors as Victor Timely
Jonathan Majors made his first MCU appearance in Loki season 1, setting up Kang’s large role going into the MCU’s future. With He Who Remains dead and Kang The Conqueror killed off by Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, this gives way for season 2 introducing another entirely new Kang variant. Majors also plays Victor Timely, as seen by Loki and Mobius in the Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania post-credits scene. A scientist who was bestowed knowledge of how the TVA worked from a young age, Timely has a complicated role in the show, as one of the less easy to predict of the anti-heroes in the cast.
Rafael Casal as Brad Wolfe/Hunter X-5/Zaniac
In a surprise reveal in Loki’s season 2 trailer, Rafael Casal was confirmed to be playing Marvel Comics character Brad Wolfe, an actor who appears in a Zaniac movie. In the comics, Wolfe was also an actor who was possessed by the real Zaniac, a serial killer villain sent to Earth by Dormammu with the power to form energy daggers. Loki season 2 takes a new spin on the character, as here Brad is instead initially a TVA agent Hunter X-5, only to come into some serious turmoil about wanting to live out his normal life in the Marvel timeline.
Kate Dickie as General Dox
With extensive experience on the stage, Kate Dickie has made appearances in Game of Thrones and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. In Loki season 2, she plays General Dox, an initially staunch TVA member who eventually looks at forming her own faction in order to prune the new branching timelines forming in the MCU.
Liz Carr as Judge Gamble
Judge Gamble is a member of the TVA’s Council of Judges – who oversee the group itself and its capacity to control the fabric of reality itself. As such, she is seen primarily alongside General Dox, with Dickie’s character taking a more consistently extreme approach to the branching timelines, whereas Gamble develops more over time on the matter.
Every Returning Loki Character In Season 2
Tom Hiddleston as Loki
Making his MCU debut back in Phase 1 in Thor, Tom Hiddleston has been a prominent figure in the universe for over a decade. He was introduced as Thor’s brother, the God of Mischief, and has always been known to cause chaos. While starting out as a villain, Loki has turned into more of an anti-hero of sorts over the course of the MCU. His schemes have notoriously got him in trouble, and Loki has escaped death multiple times.
After falling to Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, Loki got a second chance at life when the Avengers time traveled back to 2012 in Avengers: Endgame. He was originally taken back to Asgard for judgment, but Loki was able to escape with the Tesseract this time around, triggering the start of Loki season 1. With no one in the TVA recognizing Loki by the finale, season 2 follows him regaining their trust and trying to fix the mess of timelines while dealing with his own glitching through time.
Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius
Owen Wilson’s Mobius was introduced in season 1 as a TVA agent responsible for especially dangerous crimes. Mobius recruits the 2012 Loki variant to help him investigate the threat attacking the TVA, resulting in the two developing a friendship of sorts. Portrayed as a loyal worker and one of the organization’s best agents, Mobius ultimately turns on the TVA after learning about the truth behind their dealings. Knowing that he was a variant himself and that the Time-Keepers were fake, Mobius becomes a strong ally for the Loki variants. Though the Mobius variant that interacts with Loki at the end of season 1 doesn’t recognize him, season 2 sees the pair reunite for a time-hopping caper to save the multiverse.
Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie
A female variant of Loki, Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie showed just how many possibilities there were with the Loki‘s multiversal variants. She is originally introduced as the unknown variant attacking the TVA, though her origin story revealed her reason for doing so. After getting kidnapped by the TVA as a kid, Sylvie spent most of her life hiding within timelines while looking to get her revenge on the organization. She and Loki eventually become allies after convincing him of the TVA’s lies, but she learns herself that the TVA was actually created by He Who Remains, a Kang variant.
Sylvie is directly responsible for Loki season 2, since her killing He Who Remains is what caused the multiverse to expand. As such, Sylvie returns as a semi-antagonistic presence, clashing with Loki philosophically and helping him work out what exactly his motivation in the events of season 2 is.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer
Ravonna Renslayer is one of the first people Loki comes across when he arrives at the TVA in season 1. Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Ravonna is the judge who gives Loki his initial guilty verdict, though Mobius manages to convince her to use the variant to the TVA’s advantage instead. A former hunter herself, Ravonna was the one who kidnapped Sylvie as a child. She is portrayed as extremely loyal to the TVA, willing to protect them even after learning the truth about the organization’s origins.
Loki season 2 sees Ravonna challenge this loyalty to the TVA, and reconsider her past decisions as a result. This helpfully coincides with the character learning more about her elusive origins and her mysterious history with He Who Remains, which not only makes her a more integral character, but also provides some surprising plot twists along the course of the new season of the show.
Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15
Wunmi Mosaku made her MCU debut in Loki season 1 as Hunter B-15, a high-ranking hunter for the TVA. Extremely capable at her job, she is the one who initially captures Loki. However, after Sylvie uncovers her past memories and she becomes aware of her original life, Hunter B-15 decides to turn on the TVA and help Loki, Sylvie and Mobius to expose the truth instead. By the end of season 1, B-15 is one of the many TVA agents who is replaced in Kang The Conqueror’s alternate TVA. Loki season 2 sees the character reunite with Mobius and Loki and traveling through time, which also reveals some information about her past life along the way.
Eugene Cordero as Casey/Hunter K-5E
Casey is a TVA staff member, collecting and filing evidence for the organization. It’s Loki’s initial interaction with him that helps Loki to realize that the TVA may not be what it entirely seems. Primarily played off as a comic relief character, Eugene Cordero’s Casey was promoted to a series regular for season 2, allowing him a bigger role for him this time around, and also revealing some unexpected things about his history and where he would have been if not in the TVA.
Neil Ellice as Hunter D-90
Hunter D-90 also appears again in the new season of Loki, and serves as a loyal TVA Minuteman through its story – though the character does get some more dimension and emotion throughout this new chapter. D-90 is largely shown doing the work of other more central characters throughout Loki season 2, but gets enough distinct characterization that it’s possible the character or his variants could appear later down the line.
Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains
In a fun plot twist, Loki season 2 also includes He Who Remains, despite his death at the end of the prior season. The increasingly chaotic time travel in the show sees the series callback to its own season 1 ending, and in doing so allows for another look at one of the MCU’s most interesting and integral new characters. Given how swiftly He Who Remains died in season 1, it certainly makes sense to allow the Kang variant a little more time on-screen, especially as this helps set up further for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
Tara Strong as Miss Minutes
Tara Strong voices the artificial intelligence Miss Minutes, an animated clock figure who was created by He Who Remains to watch over the TVA. Spreading propaganda throughout the TVA unbeknownst to its staff, she proved to ultimately be loyal to her creator when she tried to strike up a deal between Loki and Sylvie on his behalf. Loki season 2 explores more of what exactly Miss Minutes is, and how this ties in to her tumultuous and complex relationship with the man who made her.
