Electric Lotus Sports Car Coming Just In Time To Fight Electric Porsche 718 Cayman

The Lotus Type 135 – the British carmaker’s answer to the electric Porsche 718 Cayman and Boxster – will arrive earlier than expected. Auto Express claims the new Lotus sports car will be revealed in 2025, a year earlier than planned.

Lotus vice president and chief commercial officer Mike Johnstone said the Type 135 will be revealed within the next two years, with customers expected to take delivery in 2027. The upcoming battery-powered model will carry the flag for the line of Lotus sports cars, following the discontinuation of the Elise and Exige.

“For us, what’s important is it’s the bullseye of the brand. So even though it’s electrified, it needs to have the same spirit as the Emira, as the Exige, as the Evora, etc, going over the last 75 years. It needs to encapsulate the pure sprint of what the Lotus sports car should be,” said Johnstone.
