THE mother of murdered Reeva Steenkamp has revealed the sick reason she believes killer athlete Oscar Pistorius shot her dead.

June Steenkamp said that she thinks her daughter died because disgraced Pistorius – who has been released from jail – “lost his temper”.

The shamed former Paralympian, 37, was released on January 5 after serving over half of his sentence in a South African prison.

June told Good Morning Britain today: “He knew she was in the toilet because they had had a huge argument.

“He lost his temper, he’s got no control over his temper and he lost his temper because she (Reeva) said ‘I’m leaving I don’t want to be involved with you,’ her clothes were packed ready.”

She added: ” In the court he (Pistorius) said he was saying to the guy who he thought was in the bathroom ‘get out of my f***** house,’” but she thinks he was speaking to Reeva then because she was “rejecting him”.

It comes as June revealed her husband, “died of a broken heart” as he couldn’t live without his daughter.

She said: “I think my husband died of a broken heart he was very strange when he died he just went to bed early and passed away in his sleep.

“He could not live without out daughter she was the most wonderful person, she loved us and cared for us.”

Barry Steenkamp died on September 14, 2023, just weeks before news broke that Pistorius might be released.

In November 2023 it was revealed the former sprinter would be freed on parol.

A statement from the court described Pistorius as a “first time offender with a positive support system”, announcing the parole board’s decision to release him.

A prison spokesperson said: “Parole does not mean the end of the sentence. It is still part of the sentence.

“It only means the inmate will complete the sentence outside a correctional facility.”

Pistorius shot dead model Reeva, 29, with four bullets fired through the locked door of the bathroom in the early hours of Valentine’s Day 2013.

After a round of appeals and challenges, Pistorius – dubbed the “Blade Runner” because of his carbon-fibre prosthetic legs – was sentenced to 13 years and five months for murder.

He was freed from jail on January 5th after serving 11 years in jail.

He was granted parole in November and has already returned home following his release.

He is believed to be staying at his uncle’s £2 million mansion in Pretoria which has been reinforced to protect him from underworld threats.
