Just Stop Oil protesters have continued their demonstrations across London, spraying Wellington Arch in orange paint, before they were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

Members of the eco mob were seen painting the historic arch, which was completed in 1827, with orange paint.

The group’s logo was also visible on the bottom of the monument.

A cycling passing by recorded the incident of vandalism at the Grade I listed centrepiece of Hyde Park Corner.

After finishing the spray painting and putting down their paint guns, the group took out an orange flare and a large Just Stop Oil flag

Photos from the scene show a number of officers from the Metropolitan Police stand around the arch and soon after the King’s Guard pass under the arch during a normal morning walk-about.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were made aware of Just Stop Oil protestors spraying paint on Wellington Arch today at 10.19am.

“Officers that were nearby immediately responded. Three people have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.”

It is the start of three weeks of action starting October 29, when there will be a “slow march in London on an “unprecedented scale”.

Just Stop Oil want the government to stop granting new oil, coal and gas drilling licences due to the threats of climate change.

The group, which has branches worldwide, describes themselves as a nonviolent civil resistance group
