THIS is the horror moment a 13ft great white shark smashes open and enters a cage with a terrified diver inside.

The bloodied beast can be seen thrashing around in the water before emerging from within the cage and leaping back out the top.

Footage even shows onlookers with their head in their hands as they fear the worst for the diver trapped inside.

But in a miraculous turn of events, the diver survived, albeit emerging shaken following the nightmare experience.

The stunning footage was captured off the coast of Mexico’s Guadalupe Island, one of the top shark cage diving hotspots in the world.

The videographer, who chose to remain anonymous, posted the video on YouTube, writing how the shark had been biting at large chunks of tuna attached to a rope.

He explained how the beast had temporarily blinded itself when lunging at the meat and, coupled with its inability to swim backwards, began to panic.

“So this shark lunged at the bait, accidentally hit the side of the cage, was most likely confused and not able to swim backwards,” the videographer wrote.

“It thrust forward and broke the metal rail of the cage.”

It was at this moment, however, that panic set in as everyone feared for the man’s safety in the water.

The shark could be seen violently thrashing around in the cage, with everyone unsure as to whether it was attacking the diver or trying to get out.

But all of a sudden it emerged, bloodied gills on show where it had hurt itself from the incident, and flopped back into the sea.

Silence followed as the rest of the group tried to figure out whether anyone was in the cage – and if they were still alive.

But in a miraculous turn of events, one of the divers emerged.

“There was a single diver inside the cage,” the videographer said. “He ended up outside the bottom of the cage, looking down on two great white sharks.

“The diver is a very experienced dive instructor, remained calm, and when the shark thrashed back outside the cage, the diver calmly swam back up and climbed out completely uninjured.”

Ming Chan, the diver from Shanghai, China, could barely remember what happened but was thankful to still be alive.

”It happened so fast,” he told ABC News. “The other divers just kept telling me how lucky I am.”

Chan said his wife didn’t believe him until he showed off the video, which rattled her.

But despite the scare, he said the incident will not keep him out of the water.

The videographer’s love of shark-infested waters also hasn’t been shaken by the incident

“I want to return next year for another great white shark adventure,” he said.

Elsewhere, spine-chilling footage shows the moment a great white shark killed itself as it tried to break into a diver’s cage in a bloody frenzy.

The shock video showed the beast furiously swimming towards the cage before its head snapped between the metal bars.

And incredible footage shows a deadly mako shark wriggling and thrashing around after getting stuck onto a family boat.

The large predator can be seen trapped beneath the guard rail on the deck after it leapt onto the vessel.
