Popular American singer and rapper Lizzo is done with the online criticism. The four-time Grammy winner shocked her fans with her decision to quit. Notably, the 35-year-old star faced backlash for her performance at a fundraiser event for President Biden, which marked the presence of famous personalities like Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, among others.
Lizzo was accused of sexual harassment and workplace abuse by her former dancers. The lawsuit, filed in August last year, claims that the rapper has assaulted many of her former dancers and created a hostile workplace for them. It was reported that the suit has been put on hold as of now, while Lizzo, who has been continuously denying all the allegations, urges the case to move forward.
A lawyer for the complainants Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez criticized the Democratic National Committee for hiring Lizzo to perform at the event held on Thursday night. NewsNation reported the attorney, Ron Zambrano, saying,
It’s shameful that Lizzo would be chosen to headline an event like this amid such egregious allegations.
Without getting into the politics, I can’t imagine why anyone would want Lizzo representing them in any way, given her reprehensible behavior. It’s just a terrible look.
Meanwhile, Lizzo took to her Instagram on Friday to share a very cryptic message that has stunned fans and industry insiders alike. She wrote,
It remains unclear what she meant by quitting. Some fans think that she has decided to take a break from social media, while others consider that she is quitting her music career.
