Key Takeaways
A more affordable RWD Charger Daytona EV GT model could arrive in 2025
It only has one electric drive module, making it less powerful than the AWD trims
The GT model is expected to offer more range and be priced lower than other Charger Daytona EV trims
Electric muscle cars are still not fully accepted, but Dodge is allegedly working on expanding the Charger Daytona EV lineup to include a more affordable, rear-wheel-drive version. This is according to Mopar Insiders, which cited an unnamed source close to the electric Dodge Charger program.
According to the report, the electric RWD Charger Daytona will be a GT model – a nod to its ICE-powered predecessor’s less powerful, V6-powered GT models. It will be available in two body styles, sedan and coupe, and will become available sometime during the second half of 2025 – a few months after the four-door EV enters production in Q1.
One-Fewer Motor Equals Less Power
If the report were to hold, the supposed RWD Charger Daytona GT would only have one electric drive module (EDM). Naturally, it will be less powerful than the all-wheel-drive R/T and Scat Pack trims introduced at the EV’s launch. Given that the AWD Charger Daytona’s base power figure is 456 horsepower, half of that would mean a power output of around 228 hp.
However, the report speculates that the GT models will have about 300 electric ponies at par with the outgoing GT models. Our guess is just as good as yours at this point, but not impossible, considering that Dodge can tune the EDMs to squeeze more power.

The Good Part
While a less powerful Charger Daytona EV isn’t exactly something fans want to hear, the source has claimed the GT model will have more range than its AWD counterpart. No exact range figure was mentioned, but it should be greater than the estimated 317 miles of the Charger Daytona R/T. Of note, the AWD models can have their front electric drive module disconnected for improved efficiency, though details on this end are still scarce.
Moreover, the Charger Daytona GT will be priced lower than the initially introduced trims, according to the source. An added option for those willing to jump into the electric muscle car era is good, but let’s not get our hopes up just yet. As always, take this with a dash of salt until Dodge issues an official announcement about the supposed cheaper model.
