It’s nearly time for another monthly turnover of titles available on Game Pass – this time, it’s the October 2024 edition. Game Pass is Microsoft’s proprietary subscription service for the distribution of games. Available in several tiers, it provides access to hundreds of games on both Xbox consoles and PC, available either for direct download or cloud streaming for a monthly fee. Once an archive of classic Xbox games, Game Pass has since evolved to include numerous day-one releases, and gets a slew of new games every month.

But in order to make room for all those new games, some older titles must leave the service. Some games eventually return, although it is rare. However, subscribers can purchase departing games at a significant discount, just in case they can’t finish a particular title in time. As a result, it’s best to be informed of a game’s expiration date before starting. To that end, here’s everything confirmed to be coming to and leaving Game Pass in October 2024.

Only One Game Is Coming To Game Pass In October So Far – But It’s A Big One

Black Ops 6 Will Be A Day-One Game Pass Release

The only game confirmed for Game Pass in October 2024 (so far) is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which is expected to arrive on the service October 25 as a day-one release. This is the latest in the monumental Call of Duty series, a first-person shooter with a single-player campaign and a wide variety of multiplayer modes. In particular, the Black Ops subseries is known for its Zombies game mode, in which players fight to survive against increasingly powerful waves of bloodthirsty undead.

This is the first CoD title to come to Game Pass on day one – previous entries in the series were instead released through the usual avenues of digital and brick-and-mortar stores. Recent entries, however, have offered certain multiplayer features for free, but required players to buy the game in order to play through the campaign. This marks a bold new release strategy for the franchise, and its consequences will only become clear after Black Ops 6‘s release.

Topping the list is Gotham Knights, a 2022 action game set in Gotham City. Based on the comic series of the same name, Gotham Knights has players selecting their characters from a roster that includes Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood. With co-op features, players can also join their friends in the main campaign. Valheim is next, an indie survival game set in a world themed after Norse mythology. Its departure from Game Pass may be related to the end of its early access period, which is expected to expire in early 2025.

Players can purchase any of the departing games at discounts of up to 20% off, and carry over their progress.

Indie games leaving the service include the cozy crafting game My Time at Portia, the roguelike Loop Hero, and the pixel management sim Let’s Build a Zoo. Telltale’s Walking Dead graphic adventure duology will also be departing on October 1.

The other titles that will be removed from Game Pass in October 2024 are PAW Patrol: Grand Prix, a racing game based on the children’s animated series of the same name, and the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, an anthology of the first three titles in the courtroom visual novel/detective series. It’s unknown whether any of the above have plans to return to the service after a period of hiatus.

Although these are all the changes to Game Pass that have been announced for October so far, more may be revealed throughout the month. While the service does tend to give players a decent grace period before removing games, new titles may be added at almost any time. As a result, it’s important to keep an eye on the Game Pass homepage to find out what’s new.
