Silent Hill 2 remake developer Bloober plans to continue collaborating with Konami on future projects after the game releases this month. Bloober is the Polish video game development studio in charge of bringing the 2001 classic to modern audiences. The company specializes in psychological horror and has previously developed games like Blair Witch and Layers of Fear.
As work on Silent Hill 2 draws to a close, Bloober and Konami appear to have plans to continue working together. In an interview with Polish website Bankier.pl (as reported by ComicBook), the Bloober Team president and CFO Karolina Nowak stated that Konami is happy with the work the team has done with their franchise darling. “We can expect that this is not the end of the adventure with Konami,” she said (translated from Polish).
The two companies still need to settle some financial details, as Nowak notes that the Silent Hill 2 remake has not yet proven lucrative for the company. However, once these details are ironed out, it seems likely that Konami and Bloober will continue to work on adapting more of Konami’s beloved games to modern audiences.
The Future Of Silent Hill Remakes May Depend On Silent Hill 2
If Fans Love It, More May Follow
Some fans have misgivings about the Silent Hill 2 remake. In many respects, it’s the perfect game to try remaking thanks to its influences on the psychological horror genre. Although the original Silent Hill is a classic that many fans hold near and dear to their hearts, the second installment is regarded by many to be one of the best horror games ever made.
Konami may be testing the waters with this game, paving the way for more to follow. Whether Konami and Bloober end up remaking more of the Silent Hill games will likely depend on how well this remake sells. Early looks at the game and the developers behind it show that Bloober is dedicated to making Silent Hill 2 an amazing experience for fans, both new and old.
We’re Glad A New Generation Of Fans Can Experience The Silent Hill Series
The Games Are Classic But Dated
The Silent Hill franchise is beloved by many fans who grew up on its distinct brand of psychological horror. That said, the last mainline game in the franchise was released in 2012, making it difficult for the franchise to attract modern fans.
It became clear that the community wants more Silent Hill for modern consoles when the P.T. demo was briefly released then pulled from the PlayStation Store 10 years ago. The demo was created for the now-cancelled Silent Hills, and it can now only be played through fan recreations. Remaking the classic Silent Hill games for modern audiences and consoles is the best thing that Konami can do for the franchise, despite some fan complaints. The Silent Hill 2 remake will be released on October 8 for PC and PS5. Its reception may determine what the future looks like for the Konami and Bloober Team partnership.
