According to the source, the base model will have a single electric motor on the rear axle. It will produce roughly 400 hp and will be rear-wheel-drive. The mid-spec has an output of 670 hp, which points to a dual-motor setup. We’re not sure which part of this car will offend muscle car fans the most. The fact that it’s driven by electricity, or that it’s all-wheel-drive. Even the zany 1,025-HP Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 sends all of its grunt to the rear wheels only.

The top-spec will almost certainly be AWD. While the 885 hp figure is impressive in isolation, we now live in a world where you can buy tri-motor sedans producing more than 1,000 hp. Dodge might also take the tri-motor route with two motors on the rear axle, potentially unlocking a broad spectrum of driving modes.

It’s worth noting that these figures might not be locked in. An EV powertrain is much easier to finetune, so Dodge could potentially introduce the Charger with 400, 700, and 900 hp.
