A food lover has crowned the “best Sunday roast dinner” in London following a spontaneous visit to a renowned eatery in the East End.

Yasmin (@yasmintippett) shared her culinary adventure on TikTok, after taking a trip to Blacklock in Shoreditch. In her video, she raved: “My gosh it was amazing”, before humorously noted that her partner was “wetting himself in excitement” in anticipation of their meal.

The clip also displayed the bustling atmosphere of the restaurant, with every table occupied. Yasmin went on to praise: “The staff were really brilliant and knowledgeable about the food. The couple chose to indulge in the restaurant’s ‘All In’ option, priced at £26 per person, and described as a “heady mix of Beef, Lamb and Pork Roasts with all the above trimmings” on the menu.

These accompaniments included Yorkshire pudding, duck fat roast potatoes, and various seasonal vegetables, all more than generously served on their plates, piled high. Yasmin and her partner also added a cauliflower cheese side to their feast, and although they polished off most of their main course, they saved room for dessert.

The final treat was the establishment’s signature white chocolate cheesecake, which Yasmin declared: “It’s their most famous dessert and I can see why. This cheesecake was absolutely amazing.”

She closed: “They serve it tableside and I would go as far as to say its one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. This was a 10 out of 10 for me for a roast – I can’t wait to go back.”

One excited TikTok user, inspired by Yasmin’s video, announced: “I’m coming to London for my honeymoon end of October and we made reservations here for a Sunday roast so this just made me PUMPED.” Another hailed the venue: “Blacklock is the best on island E14 been twice omg the cheesecake.”

A third person complimented: “The potatoes look like they’re cooked with love, and that’s what makes a good roast.” While a fourth concurred with Yasmin, speaking from experience: “Best cheesecake ever there!”

Blacklock, which also has branches in Soho, Canary Wharf, Covent Garden, Bank and Manchester, states on its website: “Our aim has always been to serve the very best meat our fair land has to offer whilst being kind on your wallet. We use the whole animal to make something of everything and increase sustainability.

“This means we farm less intensively, minimise waste and ensure the highest quality. From skinny chops piled high in an All In to the Sunday Roast (almost as good as Mum’s), this meat always puts a smile on our faces, and we hope it does you too.”
