Police have cordoned off a huge area in Nottingham city centre this morning after reports of a horror bus crash.

Emergency services raced to the scene at around 7am on Tuesday morning after a collision which reportedly involved a bus and a pedestrian.

Officers have warned that the road will be closed for some time. It is not yet known whether there have been any casualties as a result of the crash.

An area around Lower Parliament Street near to the Victoria Centre is off limits.

Express.co.uk has approached the emergency services for further information.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “Lower Parliament Street in Nottingham city centre has been closed between Milton Street and Glasshouse Street after a serious road traffic collision.

“It will remain closed for some time and drivers are advised to avoid the area. Thank you.”

Traffic monitoring website Inrix reports: “A6008 Lower Parliament Street in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident, a bus involved from Upper Parliament Street to A60 King Edward Street.”

A new statement from Nottingham Travelwise stated: “Lower Parliament Street is closed between Glasshouse Street and Milton Street.

“Emergency services are on scene dealing with an ongoing incident. Please avoid the area and look to use alternative routes where possible until further notice.”

An eyewitness has told Nottinghamshire Live that a female pedestrian was involved in the incident and that it s a serious collision.
