A mum has died after falling from a tower block and her baby is fighting for its life in hospital.
The woman in her 30s who was ‘in the late stages of pregnancy’ fell from the 17-storey block in Burmantofts, Leeds, yesterday morning at 10.42am.
Paramedics tried to save the woman but she died at the scene.
Her baby is in hospital in a critical condition after it was successfully delivered by doctors.
There are ‘no suspicious circumstances’ surrounding her death, police confirmed.
Pictures from the scene show a flower bouquet left out to the mum in the hours following her death.
A resident on the 14th floor recalled hearing a ‘thud’ and screaming, according to the BBC.
‘It’s a shock to everybody, to the whole community,’ he said.
Labour councillor for the area Luke Farley said the mum’s death is ‘deeply distressing’ for the community.
He said: ‘I also want to reassure residents that there will be a police presence there over the next day or so.’

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: ‘At 10.24am yesterday, police were contacted by the ambulance service who had been called to an incident where a woman had fallen from height at Shakespeare Towers on Shakespeare Approach.
‘The woman died at the scene as result of her injuries.
‘There were no suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office has been informed.
‘The woman, aged in her thirties, was in the late stage of pregnancy and her baby was delivered at hospital after the incident and is receiving critical care.’
