Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Venom: The Last DanceMarvel’s Venom and Eddie Brock have had quite a wild ride throughout their movie trilogy, and there are a handful of scenes that most define their cinematic journey. In total, Marvel’s Lethal Protector has been seen in three movies (and a brief MCU appearance). That said, Eddie and Venom have only been bonded for about a single year. Likewise, it’s not difficult to extract Venom’s movie story down to a few key scenes.

Beginning in 2018, Sony’s Venom debuted Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock who finds himself bonded to an alien symbiote. Since that time, Venom and Brock have become The Lethal Protector, a dysfunctional duo trying to do the right thing in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (and beyond). To that end, here are 10 scenes that most define Venom’s Marvel movie story.

10 The Venom Symbiote Lands On Earth

Originally Planning To Take Over Earth

Opening 2018’s Venom, the Venom symbiote first lands on Earth with a collection of other captured symbiotes recovered by The Life Foundation, a genetics and research corporation run by Carlton Drake. While most of the symbiotes, including Venom, were recovered from the crash-landed shuttle, the symbiote that broke out and caused the crashed escape (who would later be known as Riot).

9 Venom Bonding With Eddie Brock

Some Major Growing Pains

While breaking into the Life Foundation’s labs after he was fired from his job as an investigative journalist, Eddie Brock became the unwitting host of the Venom symbiote. As such, the hilarity of Eddie’s body trying to regulate and deal with the new alien organism in his body is very fun to watch. Likewise, no scene better defines how upside down Eddie’s life has become with Venom than when he jumps into a restaurant’s lobster tank to cool himself down (while also eating one of the lobsters in front of his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend).

8 Eddie And Venom Fight The Life Foundation

Their Partnership Begins

On the run from the Life Foundation’s security teams, who want their symbiote back, Venom puts Eddie through a high-octane motorbike chase through the streets of San Francisco before the symbiote and Eddie fully becomes Venom for the first time. Shortly after eating one of the security heads whole, Venom also reveals himself to Eddie for the first time to have a proper conversation. To that end, Eddie agrees to help Venom get to Carlton Drake’s rocket ship in exchange for his own survival.

7 Venom vs Riot

Their First Big Symbiote Showdown

While Venom was originally just using Eddie as a host, the symbiote starts to enjoy both life on Earth and Eddie. To that end, this results in the duo deciding to stop Drake and destroy his rocket. To that end, Drake has also blended with the Riot symbiote by the movie’s end, resulting in Venom’s first on-screen battle with another symbiote. Destroying both Riot and the rocket, it seemed as though Venom sacrificed himself to save Eddie. However, the symbiote was later revealed to be alive and well, with Eddie becoming its host once more.

6 Venom Creates Carnage With Cletus Kasady

Venom’s Evil Offspring

Sometime later, Venom inadvertently reproduces and transfers its offspring to Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson) in 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage, an incarcerated serial killer Eddie has been interviewing at San Quentin. During his execution (with Kasady having earned the death penalty), the new Carnage symbiote emerges, saving Kasady’s life and helping him break out of prison to cause havoc once more.

5 Venom vs Carnage

Their Most Iconic Symbiote Showdown

Wanting revenge against Venom and having thought that he and Eddie could have been friends, Cletus and Carnage have a final showdown with Eddie and Venom in a cathedral. However, Venom ends up eating Carnage whole by the end of their fight, killing one of his most dangerous rivals in the original Marvel Comics. While it would have been nice for a more extended rivalry beyond their encounters in a single movie, the fight between the two symbiotes is still one for the ages.

4 Venom Transported To The MCU

Thanks To Spider-Man: No Way Home

At the end of Let There Be Carnage, Venom and Eddie find themselves transported against their will to the MCU universe known as Earth-616. Seeing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man on television, the Venom symbiote teases familiarity with the Webslinger, which at the time seemingly teased a future showdown. However, the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home saw Eddie and Venom being sent back to Sony’s Spider-Man Universe thanks to Doctor Strange’s new spell, without ever encountering the MCU Spider-Man.

3 Eddie and Venom Become Fugitives

Debuting The Venom Horse

Having become fugitives because of the events of Let There Be Carnage while also being interstellar fugitives on the run from Knull’s symbiote-hunting xenophages, Eddie and Venom are faced with enemies from all sides in 2024’s Venom: The Last Dance. Seeing how the xenophages can instantly track them when Venom takes over Eddie’s body, the duo finds an alternate form of transportation in the desert with the symbiote taking over a horse as its temporary host. As such, the debut of the “Venom Horse” is one of the most memorable scenes from the final chapter of the Venom trilogy.

2 Venom’s Sacrifice To Save Eddie

“Till The End…”

As seen at the end of Venom: The Last Dance, Venom and Eddie lure the xenophages to the section of Area 51 that was being demolished via tanks of acid. However, Venom then leaves Eddie and binds all the xenophages together, dragging them to the acid before having Commander Rex Strickland open the vats to melt them all. As such, it’s certainly one of the most tragic scenes in the entire Venom trilogy.

1 Knull The Symbiote God Is Coming

There Are Still Threats To Come

One of the post-credits scenes in Venom: The Last Dance is also quite memorable as it shows that there are still more dangers and threats to come with symbiotes in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Despite showing Andy Serkis’ Knull still imprisoned on his throne, the Symbiote God makes it clear that he’ll soon be free to burn everything, wanting to restore the universe back to eternal darkness before it was “infected” by light and life. As such, the appearance of such a major Marvel villain is very exciting, while also teasing that the Venom symbiote and Eddie may one day return to face Knull directly.
