Euphoria star Colman Domingo‘s new Netflix conspiracy series has become a global hit. Following his breakout on Broadway, the actor transitioned to television with early roles in various incarnations of Law & Order, though his big television breakout came as Victor Strand in AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead. However, it was Domingo’s role in Euphoria as Rue’s sponsor and a recovering drug addict, Ali, that earned him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

Though he’s perhaps better known for his roles on television, Domingo has appeared in many movies, such as Lincoln, Selma, If Beale Street Could Talk, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Zola, The Color Purple, and Sing Sing. However, after his Emmy win, it was his performance as the titular civil rights activist in the Netflix film Rustin that earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Now, Domingo has reunited with Netflix for a new series, which has become a global hit.

Now, soon after its premiere on November 28, Colman Domingo’s new conspiracy series has become a global hit on Netflix. The Madness ranks second on Netflix’s Global Top 10 TV shows (English) for the week of November 25 to December 1 with 9.3 million views and 61.2 million hours viewed. It ranked below Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey season 1 and above A Man on the Inside season 1, Arcane, Cobra Kai season 6, and Outer Banks season 4, among other shows. The Madness finished Top 10 in TV in 81 countries on Netflix, including the United States.

What The Madness’ Netflix Success Means For The Show

Will There Be A Season 2?

The Madness reviews praise Colman Domingo’s powerful performance, which helps make up for the show’s occasional tendency toward political preachiness and delivers a mystery that’s well worth exploring, resulting in a solid 74% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Though this type of critical acclaim, combined with its popularity among audiences, would typically result in a season 2 renewal from Netflix, The Madness is strictly a limited series and, as of right now, there won’t be a continuation of the story behind its eight episodes. This is probably best for Colman Domingo, who has a busy schedule that includes Euphoria season 3.

Euphoria
season 3 is slated for 2026.
