A woman has been found dead with “significant injury” at a holiday park in a beautiful UK seaside village.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder at the site which is off Weston Road in Brean, Somerset.
Avon and Somerset Police say formal identification of the woman, who is in her 50s, has not taken place but that her family has been informed.
The officers found the victim at the caravan site around 4.50pm on Wednesday, October 25. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, she was sadly pronounced dead half an hour later, at 5.20pm.
The 70-year-old man who was arrested at the scene remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Neil Meade said: “Our thoughts are with the woman’s family during this time and we would like to reassure them and the local community that our Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) will carry out a full and thorough investigation to establish the facts.
“Residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the next few days, but I would like to reassure them that, at this stage, we believe there is no wider risk to the public and this is an isolated incident.”
Detective Meade added: “If anyone has any questions or concerns, we encourage you to speak to any of our uniformed officers or contact your local Neighbourhood Policing Team.”
Avon and Somerset Police have issued a reference number for the incident: 5223261220. They advise to call 101 and quote the number, or advise completing the online form here.
