Euston station in London has run into chaos as hundreds of passengers have been left stranded after a bus hit a railway bridge.

Travellers are facing massive delays, as trains between Euston and Watford Junction have held up following the incident earlier today which has now led to a backlog of departures.

The line had been blocked while it was checked for damages, but has now been reopened after the bus, which sustained ‘very minor damage, was moved, according to trainline operator Avanti West Coast.

Video footage from the scene shows a huge crowd of passengers packed into London Euston after being left stranded in the capital following the chaos.

National Rail posted on X this evening and said ‘INFO: #HarrowWealdstone= – Trains running between London Euston and Watford Junction may be delayed by up to 15 minutes following a vehicle colliding with a bridge at Harrow & Wealdstone.’

Avanti added: ‘A bus has collided with a bridge between Watford Junction and London Euston. There is currently a block on the line whilst the line is checked for any damage. Hopefully services will be back on the move shortly.’

One passenger said online: ‘What’s the problem getting into London Euston now 1 hour late as it stands and it’s going uk in time?’

Another added: ‘@AvantiWestCoast hi, any updates on the 17:45 Euston to Manchester Piccadilly? Euston station is manic n no updates thanks.’

A third said: ‘@LNRailway hi, I’m on the 15:32 from Stafford to Euston and the train is currently stopped with not a single announcement as to why we’re almost 30 minutes delayed I understand there’s been an incident at harrow but there’s been absolutely no communication from staff on board.’

The Metropolitan Police said they were called to the scene of the bus crash at 4.31pm this evening. There was very minor damage to the bus and there were also no injuries.
