At the meet, the lawn was crowded with over 300 units of the AE86, the spiritual ancestor of the Toyota GR86. Also referred to as Hachi-Roku (Japanese for eight-six), the entrants had different wheel setups, color schemes, and engine presentations. From the factory, the AE86 came with a 1.6-liter inline-four, with the US-spec version making around 112 horsepower and 100 lb-ft of torque. It had a rear-wheel-drive layout, which was coupled to either a standard five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. The original AE86 also featured pop-up headlights that bolster its classic JDM look.
