BRITISH teen Alex Batty will return to the UK “probably tomorrow” after escaping a commune when his mum told him they would be moving to Finland, cops have revealed.

The boy, from Greater Manchester, disappeared aged 11 while on a family holiday in Spain in 2017 and was found in France this week.

Brit Alex Batty has been found alive in France after vanishing six years ago

Local reports said he fled a rural spiritual community in the Pyrenees mountains and hiked for days to escape. A concerned lorry driver eventually picked him up and contacted police, who interviewed him.

Speaking of his time in France, Alex’s aunt, Maureen, said the teen was “brainwashed by the religion” his grandfather is allegedly part of.

French prosecutor Antoine Leroy has now revealed that Alex’s grandfather, who was with both Alex and Alex’s mother, may have died six months ago.

Leroy said Alex decided to leave his mother in the Pyrenees mountains after she told him they needed to move to Finland.

He said that Alex and his mother had been on the move continuously.

Alex walked for four days before being found by the delivery driver.
